Intriguingly written in alternating voices of doctor and patient, The World Needs Old Ladies presents a fearlessly inspired growth map to a life of physical, emotional and social holistic health. The clear and comforting voice of Dr. Gladys resonates indelibly throughout this informative and optimistic volume, as we are led through over 90 years of the doctor s globe tested approaches towards wellness and the greater good. Under the overarching metaphor of the Tree of Life, Dr. Gladys draws vivid vignettes from her experiences in India and Afghanistan as well as her long medical agency in Arizona. A remarkable multigenerational medical family is revealed as we are enlightened with the compassionate wisdom and practical substance of Living Medicine , spanning issues as divergent as birth to death, motherhood to Mother Goose, and romance to remedies. While acknowledging technological advances, timeless recipes describing what works best are also disseminated with generosity, wit and humor. As the reader reflects upon the down-to-earth knowledge and healing power of both doctor Gladys and patient Eveline, a reciprocal healing takes place. The doctor and patient coalesce into the reader s physician within , who, by reading this book, gains trust, courage and confidence to search out and make decisions that may not be conventional but are effective.
