ReviewTravis decides to help his aunt get rid of a mouse, building a better mousetrap but catching a Better Mouse in the process. Suddenly Travis' invention doesn't seem so brilliant, leaving Travis stuck with an extraordinary mouse which has an idea for catching even more trouble. The plot is unexpected and fun. -- Midwest Book ReviewProduct DescriptionTravis's trap captures not only a Better Mouse, but the Groundhog, the Easter Bunny, a Thanksgiving turkey, and one of Santa's reindeer as wellFrom School Library JournalPreSchool-Grade 2-When Travis's Aunt Millie spots a mouse in their house, the little boy sets out to build a "better mousetrap" and succeeds beyond his wildest dreams-he traps a mouse almost as large as himself, as well as the Easter Bunny, the Groundhog, the Thanksgiving Turkey, and one of Santa's reindeer, all of whom refuse to leave. Meanwhile, the small mouse, the original object of all this activity, remains free, cavorting merrily around Travis's room and maintaining a lively interest in the proceedings. In desperation, the boy calls his aunt, but before she comes upstairs, everyone miraculously disappears back into the machine, including the tiny rodent who started it all. This is a mildly amusing story with mildly amusing watercolor illustrations. The idea is good, but slight. However, the exasperating creatures are endearing and the entire production is one that will probably appeal to children.?Judith Constantinides, East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, LACopyright 1996 Reed Business Information, Inc.
