Ghost Stories and Folk Tales from West VirginiaFolks in Calhoun and Wirt counties have long passed down a legend of Hedger's ghost. If you stand on a certain section of the Little Kanawha River at night and call out "Hedger" three times, you will hear a scream. If you call back, the ghost will come closer. But you better run because the next time, that ghost will be right beside you and you will find yourself on the other side of the river the next dawn.
