After graduating from Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio in 1954 he joined the Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Captain. In 1960 Bil received his Master s of Theology from The Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Berkeley, California. He then spent 15 years in the Diocese of Hawai i. He married his wife Anne in 1961 and they have three daughters. In 1975 the family moved to southern California where Bil started his own company. His very popular book, How to Get to Heaven Without Going to Church, was published in 1997.
