De Worde was William Caxton's assistant and the first printer to set up shop in London's Fleet Street, in about 1500, laying the foundations of commercial printing in England. His huge output included children's books, histories, poetry, romances, instructions for pilgrims, and works on manners, marriage, and husbandry. The revised third edition of Moran's slim biography (first published in 1960) includes a new, detailed chronological bibliography of works about the printer. The lovely volume includes a map of medieval Fleet Street and b&w reproductions of several pages from de Worde's books. Annotation 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
