In Yeshua: A Model for Moderns, Leonard Swidler speaks as a modern Christian theologian--not so much about Christ, but about the historical Jesus, or rather Yeshua, that religious Jew who walked this earth almost two thousand years ago.Swidler examines the "Jewishness" of Yeshua, looking at him through thr refracting lenses of gospel and other helpful documents. Swidler shows how Yeshua provides a model for how to live a full human life: taking on responsibility for the oppressed of society, breaking through anti-feminine stereotypes, and providing an androgynous model for all to follow. This very readable book provides a biblical scholar's popular introduction to recent biblical research into the Jewishness of Jesus.
