Steel, jazz, and the road between ... "YOU'RE SAUL? I thought you'd be bigger" is a memoir about the life and times of Saul Shocket, multi-time world champion athlete, professional jazz saxophonist, and coach. Sometimes joyful, sometimes sad, and often humorous but always interesting, this raucous read will take you through Saul's wild musical road trips, the stress of expectation behind his competitions, and the sometimes eccentric celebrity clients he's worked with and trained in both music and sport. Between the years 1967 and 2005, Saul Shocket has quietly earned six world championships, eight national championships, and set over sixty world, national, and American powerlifting records. Some of these records were established at sixty-two years of age and in both the open and masters age divisions. Saul's competitions have taken him to many US States, England (2 times), Australia, Italy (2 times), and Belgium. In addition, his former position as director of strength and conditioning for Brazil's Olympic Ice Federation has added to these travels. "You're Saul"? I thought you'd be bigger" shares with the reader an intense balancing act between relationships, powerlifting, and music, although the order was often subject to change. Whether playing/recording with Natalie Cole, training NFL great Lorenzo Neal, dealing with his own competitions, or falling in love, Saul shares his full and challenging journey. Read the book. It's fun. You'll like it.
